How the discount works

The heart of the business is selling product you love. Your wholesale discount is tied to your own activity.

Earned Discount & activity

  • 50% earned discount when you're active — $450 in personal retail in a month. Active status carries two months after a qualifying order.
  • 30% discount while you're new, building to active, or inactive.
  • Profit potential on what you sell is up to 50%, depending on activity — and you only ever buy what you can use or sell.

Family Security Program

Important — what this is, and isn't

An NSD-level security program

The Family Security Program is available only to National Sales Directors, and eligibility depends on debuting as an NSD before a set age (before 60 for one group, before 65 for another). Because NSD is the rare top tier reached by a very small number of people, this program does not apply to consultants, team leaders, or most directors.

It is not a retirement account or an employer-sponsored retirement plan. It's a Company program for top National leaders, governed entirely by the official "Mary Kay Inc. Family Security Program" document. Please don't describe it to anyone as a "retirement plan" — that would misstate what it is. If you want to talk with your team about actual retirement saving, that's a separate, personal financial-planning conversation.

Independent contractor status. Every Mary Kay independent sales force member is an independent contractor, not an employee of Mary Kay Inc., and is not treated as an employee for federal tax purposes or otherwise. Mary Kay Inc. does not provide health insurance to its independent sales force.
